Hello Group- anyone repaired the door handle shafts - where they go into the door assm?/ Maybe a bushing for worn shafts? Or bushing into the mount assembly that fits the shaft.??? Curious as to how anyone has fixed this handle wear/looseless?? Most likely the same for all door handle shafts on the vans?

Hmm...I guess the first gens don't have stops on the handle bases?
They are often broken off anyways from abuse.
But if they happen to be still intact and the square tube has play with the plate inside
it can keep the mechanism from turning enough to stop it from being locked.

    Door Handle repairing=??????????? Empty Bezels & Handles=Repaired!!

Side door Bezel & handle repairs- Bronz bushing to repair the Bezel -bored bezel with 9/16 bit - cut bushing to 1/2 ' lenght-.700 suit ur self- and do not bore past the circlip area or you will have to cut the bushing wirh a saw in that area after bushing is installed. Gives a Tight Fit to handle.-I had great luck with this -fit is great =like new.

Those 2nd Gen door handles have a stop built in the handle and a peg on the bezel to stop over anxious people from twisting the handle too far and breaking the center out of the latch,,,,it also helps keep the latch wear down by cutting down on the handle bouncing going down the road and having those handles end up drooping,,,,,
