How close are you for your van to be "finished" to your liking?

My van is about this far along until I would say "perfect"

Maybe 1%...maybe,,,,
that's if you count having the donor vehicle in the driveway
waiting for the REAL pickup to arrive from Louisiana.
That's where I am...waiting.
Can't wait to start!...
Only good thing is the donor vehicle came with a large box of parts.
Check them out on EBAY....IM me if you are looking for something special.

my '64 is a daily driver... runs/drives great with the factory 194ci/3 speed. Pretty much stock except for added fiero seats and cragars, looks pretty good, with a couple dings/scrapes here and there.
my '65 is the project, and just came back from the body guy! I'm now doing the final prep, getting it ready for a paint job. It does run and drive good enough to move around the yard, but not really roadworthy right now. I am planning a 292/th350 swap soon, then it will run and drive alot better!

Well Funny you should ask..I started the 67, put in the V-8 and auto trans rebuilt the rear axle, drive shaft made and installed. New brakes on all 4 corners with lines, wheel cyl. and drums turned. 4 shocks on and even rebuild the dual master cyl with all new lines run front to back. Cleaned fuel tank and ran all new lines. All 6 doors body worked and in primer. Now here is the stupid part...I found the 66 which is solid inside and out, other then the dent in the nose and driver side rocker needs repair. The 67 is a RUST BUCKET, and needs so much body work that I don't no where to start first. It needs complete bottom 6 inches or worse replaced all the way around. So I think I was around 50% done, now I am back to scratch. Everthing that has been done on the 67 needs to be moved over to the 66. Some days I wish I had not brought the 66 home. It gives me a headache just thinking about what I have to do. But I believe it is a better move becus if the CORE aint strong then all could be lost in the end.

Big W, I ran into the same thing, my rig was pretty good from the floor up when I first got it. I was well into it when a "better " body came along. But I just kept on going. I dont expect all my patch and panel rust work to last forever but also know that everything I have bolted to it will switch over to a new skin if that time comes. Also picked up another this past summer that has less rust but more holes cut into it. Sometimes I think once you get 1, more seem to pop up out of nowhere ! The knowledge I figured I gained working on the first is going to make the next one even better. Besides theres nothing wrong with having 2 or 3 is there?

I would say that I have about 20 % done. Have done the drive train and engine, brakes and undercarriage uncoating. Now am trying to tackle the body work, which is all new to me. I am sure it will be slow going but will get there at some point.

I'd say the 1965 Sportvan is about 90%.
Working on getting the 200-4R tranny ($200) and B&M "Quicksilver shifter ($40) I got last week into her in the next month and get rid of that old 2sp power-glide. Other than putting in the pop-out windows that I already have I think she's pretty much done.....
The 1966 Panel: Project on hold for now until the VA (Veteran's Affairs) get's the heads out of their hind quarters and stops screwing up my retirement...

Lyrad,
I've been collecting pop-outs every time I get the chance since they are pretty rare to start with and finding them in good condition is almost impossible. I have got eight ( 8 ) already in the shop and hope to be able to make four (4) good ones out of them by piecing together good sections of the frames. That will be a long and tenuous process so haven't quite jumped on it yet. I have put one in on the back side door, frame is a little pitted it but functions great. It was my "Test window" and I found they install very easy! I will pull it off when I start working on all the pop-outs and redo the frame with all the others.
I also have the two from "Bowtied" ( the ones I believe you were interested in) on the way. Kinda pricey but the first set I've ever seen in almost perfect condition. And because of their condition will be installed as soon as they arrive. Bowtied say the seals were trashed but I have a few here from the other windows I can use and will have to get with Steele Rubber when I finish the rest of the windows for new seals.
When I'm done I hope to have all six (6) small windows done.
