OK guys, I will be installing the exhaust on my Econo truck this weekend and was wondering if there is a muffler out there that is preferred?? Is there one that sounds throatier than the next one??? I love my 170 but it could use some help on the exhaust music, if you know what I mean... thanks...

I don't know what kind mine has on it but it looks like an old school truck muffler, nothing fancy, round about 2 foot long. Its not a loud type of sound but it sounds like a truck..my wife even commented that it has a nice tone when I take off. Good luck...
Mine is a 200 six.

I'm not a fan of the flowmaster sound, but lots love it.
I prefer turbos for a V8.
I'd suggest a Cherry Bomb for a 6.
Remember that the tailpipe makes a big difference in the tone and resonance.

Re: muffler preferences....
I have used the Flowmaster Delta Force Racing mufflers (single chamber) on my last two Econos, one had a 347 stroker motor and the other a 170 that I swapped out for a 200. Great sound and are small enough to fit in very small places. 5" long and 10" wide. You can get them on ebay. They will make your straight six sound like a V8 especially if you use Clifford Performance headers and zoomies. Guaranteed to draw attention wherever you go and are not illegal at least where I live.lectricman wrote:OK guys, I will be installing the exhaust on my Econo truck this weekend and was wondering if there is a muffler out there that is preferred?? I went with an old cherry bomb that I had at the house and when I start her up, If I don't like it I will probably go with a flow-pro that a buddy of mine sells.... he says they sound close to the real thing??? (shrug) thanks for all the input guys.... maybe I'll have her running this weekend.... wish me luck...
