What makes a Heavy Duty Econoline, Heavy Duty? What are the differences?

    Thanks!

I don't have my manual on me but I remember the rear axle was different, maybe bigger brakes too. And I think the 240 motor. My 66 parts van is a heavy duty. There are more differences.

Heavy duty vans and pickups had a thicker frame and thicker springs. All Supervans came with the thicker frames whether they were HD's or not. Some Supervans came with the small rear axle. HD's came in both 3/4 ton and one ton versions. Standard pickups and vans were 1/2 ton. Nine inch rear axle was included in the HD package. HD's could be had with both 170's and 240's. I (I have a 64 HD van with a 170) There was a HD brake option but it was not part of the HD option. Same with the clutch option. Heavy duty springs were all over the place. I'm not sure what came with what on HD's. HD's could be had with either 13 or 14 inch wheels.
    Hope this helps,
