    Wheel Specs Empty Wheel Specs

Post by southern man Wed Jun 09, 2010 4:23 pm

I was recently asked by a number of members for the wheel specs on my new Cragars. The shop that did my paint had ordered them for me so I had to ask. Here is the info:

    Front - 15 X 7, 5 X 4.50 bolt pattern, offset 4.5"
    Rear - 15 X 8, 5 x 4.50 bolt pattern, offset 5.5"

Part # for the Cragars is 581245

Can I see a closeup pic of those rims? That offset seems awful drastic. Generally you need to stay pretty close to a zero offset for most rims on 61-67 Econos with no spacers involved. You'll usually wind up hitting the wheel arch lip to the outside(or bump in wheel well above) or hit when turning on the inside.

I agree w/Tim, that rear back-spacing on the 8" is way too positive... The ideal rear back-spacing for our vans (w/the stock axles) should be a 4.25" on a 15x8 wheel...

I'll try and get you some pics. If it's wrong I apologize. That's what the shop told me.

A zero offset woud mean the center hub section is centered bewteen the front and back of the wheel. A 6 inch rim would have 3" to the front side and 3 inches to the rear minus the metal thickness of course. Maybe we're getting offset and backspacing confused here. Offset means the center hub location is installed off of center. Backspace is just that, the space "back" behind the hub center. A 4" backspace may be totally different than a 4" offset. Hope I got that right, thats how its always been explained to me.
