FOUND SOME ALUMINUM TO COVER THE TUNNEL WITH. LOOKING BETTER. THE CARDBOARD BOX IS MY MOCK RADIATOR I USED TO MEASURE EVERYTHING WITH. IT WILL BE A DOUBLE PASS 19X24" RADIATOR WITH INLET AND OUTLET ON THE SAME TANK, AND NO RADIATOR CAP PROVISION. THE HOSES WILL CONNECT ON THE REAR MOST UPPER TANK WHEN MOUNTED,AND I WILL JUST INSTALL AN IN-LINE FILLER CAP/PIPE. I PLAN ON GETTING THE STRONGEST PULLER FAN I CAN AFFORD TO MOUNT UNDERNEATH. THATS ALL FOR TONITE. GOODNIGHT. -GABE-[img]WIND TUNNEL 101! Never seen anyone do a radiator install that way in a early. From what I see look like a great idea.

Hey Balcones1,

I think that this is totally awesome! Can never get enough cold air to cool down the engine. Exclamation So can I assume that this tunnel will go through the doghouse into the engine compartment? scratch

Way cool , thinking of doing something similar myself, but maybe not quite so "Laid Back", when I first saw this, this old cartoon came to mind.

That is out of site and will remove "Any" airflow issues left by the GM designer's... That's an amazing idea. Good job!!!

but it's a ford not a gm.
also must be nice to work with 40 year old metal that looks as good as that stuff does. thats why the crushers want old cars and trucks, they have TONS of metal in them. melt on early--- get 4 toyotas.

That is totally bitchin. I am using a lot of polished diamond plate aluminum in the interior of my 65 to include a console, built in ice chest and cabinet. I think that would make a great base for the console. Do you have the specs on that??

Here's a good place to get diamond plate cut to order and shipped directly to your home. I got all mine from them. Prices are reasonable too.

I really oughta count my blessings.I work in a steel whse. You won't believe what is thrown away, honest.
What some of us think of as Gold,it's tossed without a thought.Since the economy has tightened up a bit, they've tightened up on the 'scrap box' a bit also.I still have access to a lil treadbrite, tubing and some sheet, but not as free flowing as before.

WIND TUNNEL 101! I'M STILL LEARNING! Empty TUNNEL SPECS

Post by Guest Tue Jan 20, 2009 3:41 pm

HEY VANISHING BREED HERE ARE THE ROUGH SPECS FOR MY TUNNEL. THEY MAY NEED TO BE MODIFIED SLIGHTLY FOR THE STOCK GAS PEDAL. THE HEIGHT IS 5 1/2 INCHES UP FROM THE FLOOR WHICH PUTS IT EVEN WITH THE FRONT BODY SEAM ABOVE THE GRILL. THE WIDTH ACROSS THE FRONT IS APROX. 18 3/4". THE REAR WIDTH IS 23 1/2". FOR THE ANGLE FOR THE GAS PEDAL I JUST MADE ROOM TO PUT MY FOOT AND AN AFTERMARKET PEDAL. THESE SPECS ALLOW ME TO FIT THE RADIATOR I WANTED UNDER IT, SO REALLY IF ITS JUST FOR AIR FLOW I GUESS IT CAN BE ANY SIZE YOU LIKE. I WILL POST SOME PICS BECAUSE THIS IS HARD FOR ME TO EXPLAIN. HOPE THIS HELPS.
PS. THIS TUNNEL WILL GO ALL THE WAY BACK TO LET AIR FLOW TO THE ENGINE ITSELF. -GABE-

Since the e-brake hole got covered what are your plans for a new one? Im using a sinilar setup for a tunnel but not covering the e brake hole since my doghouse is from a Chevy van going intyo my Econo. My crossflow radiator stays in the stock Chevy location.
