Re: Project "G"
Can't go wrong with red,,,,,,red does not seem to be too common of a color on all the vans that I have seen. I have seen more yellow ones out here.

Re: Project "G"
A little progress.....
So you get a better idea how I'm going to have a removable doghouse with a air tunnel these pictures will help explain that. There will be a lip on the front section that the back section will mount on.
Right now replacing that bad front section
And when I'm looking for something to do I have been cleaning 40 year old glue off the doghouse lid.

Re: Project "G"
Digz they have been out, but part of them will be used for the new radiator mount. Here what I'm working on now. I'm making parts work together that don't go together. Using 1st & 2nd gen radiator mounts together with a 1st gen belly pan The new mount with help from the 1st gen mounts will make it removable. I will post pic's when it done. I can tell you this that the belly pan will have to see some changes so it will work.

Re: Project "G"
Hey at least you have a belly pan to work with ! Sounds like a good plan, I like it when things can be unbolted to.

Re: Project "G"
Got the radiator mount figured out, like I said earlier using 1st & 2nd gen mounts together. Cut down the 1st gen mounts for the room I needed, the new mount will mount will the 1st gen mounts to the frame like stock, but the 2nd gen mount will hold the radiator. Going to cut off the 2nd gen mounting tabs because they are not needed. This isn't done yet, but now making the side supports for the radiator.

Re: Project "G"
It has been a good week on the 64. Got the welding that needed done finished. Used a great product for hidden rust and the whole undercarriage was sprayed with a Eastwood rust convertor. It leave a smooth surface on rusted areas also. (It looked like it was painted black) Very happy with it. This morning had to scuff the convertor before it was primed. Used a black apoxy primer that I am happy with also. Hoping to paint on Tuesday. Nice to see something go on this van instead of just taking stuff off.

Re: Project "G"
Dan it's a tinted apoxy primer. The stuff is hard as nails. The cataless has a smokie vapor when you open it. You can spray it on thick will no runs. Very happy with it.

Re: Project "G"
Chris, I would love any info on the product. I like the sounds of it and plan on attacking the body on mine this spring. Mine has next to zero rust and think this may be what I am looking for to keep it that way.
Let me know,
Dan

Re: Project "G"
Sure do... And a few old spray guns too. It looks just like POR15, I use a lot of it but have to brush it on due to it's thickness. Would love to be able to spray!!! The time that would save me!! Any info would help Chris....
Thanks,
Dan

Re: Project "G"
Hello Chris - Van looks nice. I'm sure it will be a pleasure bolting stuff on while the bottom is clean. You might not have to wash your hands when your done!
