i use plexi and clear plastic film, that way when the film gets dirty dull and scratched from the abrasive i can just replace that instead of the plexi.
    i get it at lowes

Got 2 sets of tempered safety glass cut for the Blast cabinet for $35.

Spent the day doing springs... Lots of springs... and then more springs.
The panel now has the new extra leaf springs with an extra inch of arch and the sportvan has new stock springs.... Man do I love the way the Sportvan rides now!!! And found why it was so rough when I pulled the old springs. Both front springs had a broke leaf in the backs (3rd from the bottom) and had helper spring to try to compensate, plus the front bushing on both were shot. Both vans are now riding smooth and the panel is sitting high and dry!!! And of course new shock all around........

Aaahh!! Looks like a nightmare, some kind of flashback to living in the Midwest! Don't let any of that white stuff contaminate your van!

Last night we had some cold rain and real high winds here closer to the beach. Glad I finally put a car cover on my van.

    Hey HywayChild,

I have a couple comments about your tranny crossmember. I don't think you need the tube going out the the frame rails. It will just get in your way later. I started out with something like that so I could use a rubber mount on the bottom of the tranny like you did, but I didn't like how bulky the whole thing was.

The stock trannies just have the one hanger coming down from that upper center bolt. Your center piece looks a lot like the one I made for my 700R4, except yours is going to be metal on metal if the thru bolt at the top just goes through a hole in your metal bracket. Take a look here at the way I used a couple of leaf spring rubber bushings to make it just like the stock hanger. In the picture below you can see how it helps keep it from sliding front to back too.

What are you up to? - Page 33 Tranny21

I had to buy a long length of that steel tube when I did mine. I could cut off a chunk for yours. Then, you could beef up your bracket by welding a "strap" around the whole thing like I did (which was how the stock TH350 hanger looked).

My $0.02. (But it's been a month since you posted your photos -- you're probably all done with it by now!)

Sportvan got all new locks and pedal springs today. Nice to only need one key for everything! Also installed a cut-off valve for the heater and made good use of the manual choke cable too! Very Happy

Called the guys at All Star glass a few weeks back and they said they could get me a new front winshield and new rubber for my 67 G10, but they wanted to check the van out to see if the rust was bad. So I drove it to their shop in Gardena couple of Saturdays back for the inspection. They thought it wasn't so bad so I went home and pulled the old delaminating chipped and hazzed glass out to have a closer look.

What are you up to? - Page 33 Nw110

Yea there was rust, after 44 years what could I expect. The rust was enough to make the dashboard dinosaur pass out.

What are you up to? - Page 33 Nw210

What are you up to? - Page 33 Nw310

There were even a couple spots with holes. So I sanded, ground, and scrapped away the rust down to semi shiney metal.

What are you up to? - Page 33 Nw410
What are you up to? - Page 33 Nw510

Next I applied the high metal (aluminum?) anti rust primer,

What are you up to? - Page 33 Nw610

What are you up to? - Page 33 Nw710
After I patched the holes with JB weld and fiberglass, I layered on some of the thick epoxy coat in the glass channel that I have on the van. Of course it started raining once the glass was out. Shocked

I took the old beast last Monday back to the glass shop and after about an hous and $490 I have the new glass in place. After some extra sealer goop between the rubber and the glass and the body and the rubber there are no more water leaks (fingers crossed). Now that it is dry inside, I feel comfortable putting the new stereo in.
