    V8 SWAP !! Empty V8 SWAP !!

Post by Guest Thu Feb 04, 2010 10:15 am

My buddy who's selling me his V8 is in agony over the loss. Its the engine from an old project truck that he has had to give up in exchange for a new welder he desperately needs, (And so do I).

Its a late 70's Chevy 350. This is a list of some of the features:

    rolling rockers
    Holley carb and heads
    mandral bent manifolds
I forget some of the other stuff.

Its an absolute monster and we were having some beers last night while we were draining the fluids preparing to take it out and I shot this picture.

It pretty much Sums up the power swap on my 66.

    V8 SWAP !! Empty This is my new engine - 350 V8

Post by Guest Tue Feb 09, 2010 9:09 am

I'm going to continue updates with images on this thread as a guide to any engine rookie's like me.

    Anyways, here is the beast.

    V8 SWAP !! Chevy_10

As I mentioned above, I'm buying it from my buddy who had it on his truck. The following are the reasons why he is crying about the loss.

(This is verbatum - I understand maybe a third of what these things are and how they impact the performance)

This Chevy 350 V8 has 5,000 miles on it.
It was rebuilt by Polar Motor Sports
    - 1968 - 70 350 cu" short block
    - Bored out 30 over - 355 cu"
    - 194 double bump heads, (valve train)
    - mild port and polish
    - 4 Bolt main
    - Steele Crank
    - Ballanced Shot Peend Rods
    - Forges Pistons
    - Double Roller Timing chain
    - Comp Cams (HI - 6 Fire Ball) ignition
    - Edelbrock Performance Intake
    - Holly Carbs
    - Holley Headers
    - Crane Cams
    - Full Roller Rocker (Silver)
    - All Nuts and bolts are ARP
    - Stock Distributor with curve kit
    - Mild Stock Car Cam Shaft
    - High Compression valve springs
    - 3 angle valve job

He said he originally built it so he could drive 100 mph all day without hurting it, (tranny too).

There it is. I"m getting that plus his headers, and exhaust and Turbo 400 tranny, (same 5,000 miles after full rebuild with the same attention to strong parts), and water pump, bla bla bla - turn key. Basically everything except the rad, (which won't fit) for $3500 - Canadian $$.

I don't know enough to know if that's a good deal but my buddy insists it is and I trust him. More to follow as things happen.

Heavy,What is that about $3300 us dollars? I know how much it cost's to covert one of these and with all you got I think that's a bargain. Bill

    Here's some more pics:

Here's the engine again with the Headers mounted on.

Here's the cross Exhaust that he welded up. It's going to need some modification to fit under my van but he's going to throw that in. I'm psyched!!
    V8 SWAP !! 3_exha10

And it was going to be his Turbo 400 as well, but I decided I think so far that instead, I'm going with the 200r4.

More images to come. Cross member for the tranny this week. Fun with the bender.
