I may need to replace my driver's side upper & lower hinges. I could weld them and re-drill the holes, but I would rather "just" re-pin the hinges.

Anyone have a set or just the upper for sale???

Joyride, I have a box full of door hinges. I'm in Northest Ohio. If you drive over, you can have a driver's door hinge ass'y. I'm in Lake County. kenclem@rocketmail.com

Chris, it worked on all mine. Of course that was last summer when I couldn't find any hinges. Now I have enough spares to go all the way around (Twice).....

They actually work just right for the side and rear door hinges. Since the front door hinges are a little thinner than the side ones, you might want to trim a little off the end of the pin after it is installed if you don't like how it looks. And its a good idea to replace the front hinge pins and bushings to prevent those cracks around the hinges, vent glass and latch from those heavy doors jumping around from worn out hinges.

Stupidly I bought one of those hinge pin removal, C-clamp tools via BobDrake.com (a Ford restoration vendor). Could not have been a bigger PITA. The included ram sheared, the threads weren't right on the bolt either and the tool is a $30 paper weight. Anyway, contacted Bob Drake for refund and just get a littany of crap about how hard it is to be an American company reselling what appears to be Chinese c**p.

Might have to R&R the hinges too--was looking for the easier softer way. Yet, I can assure you that is not to be had at Bob Drake.

If anybody finds a well made type of door hinge pin removal tool I'd appreciate a heads up. Thanks and happy motoring!

Most of them will come out if you heat the 2 outer ends of the hinge with at least a propane torch and use a punch to knock the pin out,,,,,I would surely heat it up ,,,,,,because,,,,,,you only get 1 good hit ,,,,if it don't move, you will mushroom it and have more work ahead of you,,,,,,

You can also take a thin hacksaw and seperate the hinge to make a smaller bite.

Thanks, I'll try those. Was just trying to keep it all on the van so I don't have to readjust the door or repaint.

Oh yeah, latest response from Bob Drake "customer service" was that their tools are not made in China--they are made in Taiwan. Had to give them a little geography lesson. Amazing argument really.

Much appreciate the help and TGIF

I rebuilt my hinges from the hardware store . The nylon busings were 16 cents a piece and the pins were 33 cents a piece. I used longer bushings than the originals so the pin had more surface to move on. I had to oversize the bushing hole to clean that hole up to recieve the new bushings without any force The hardware store also had brass or bronze bushings but I figured the van had the plastic bushings for 44 years the first time around so it should be good for another 44 years with a little tlc Ken

I guess if you want to remove the pins without removing the hinges from the van,,,,,you would need the Donivan 6500 hinge pin remover tool,,,,,,,
