Just wondering if the volt meter should work with the key or if its okay to run it right off HOT, do they actually draw any juice?
And should it be fused ? if so what size ya think?

I vote for key operated with a fuse,,,,,if you got a radio that has a memory to save the stations and that voltmeter going all the time, the battery aint going to like it much. Besides leaving anything on all the time surely shortens its life.....

Yes, it should definitely be off when you turn off the ignition, and it should definitely be fused....
