Sorry for the mulitiple posts, but I'm on a roll today.

Can someone point me to a source for LED taillights for my Econo? (Do they draw more power?) I want them to look stock (except when they light of course) but the safety factor is driving me on this one.

Also, were there ever chrome trim rings on the taillights?

I used a set of those on Vanishing Breed. they require some modificaton. they draw less power than a regular bulb.

Mike, can you please elaborate on what kind of modification these required?

i'm not sure the diameter for the econo taillight , on my a100 they are 4" i went down to harbor frieght and bought a pair of there led lights think i had a coupon and paid about $10. for both. after taking the old ones and brackets out i did a little grinding on the sheet metal and they slipped right in and yes they are brighter than the original that were hard to see day or night. don't know if 4" is to large or small for the econo.

Thanks Dan and Bob. It seems the Pontiac lights are 5", although there may be 4" versions out there somewhere. The econo taillights are indeed 4", so perhaps one of your solutions will be a better way to go. I really like the look of the Pontiac lights, but improved visibility is my primary goal, so the LED's are attractive to me.

I have to say Mike, those red LEDS are JUST what I'm looking for, but wow are they pricey. I almost can justify buying them for safety reasons. I'll have to think about it, but I really like them! Thanks for the links.

These lights seem to be universally described as 1950's Pontiac Tail lights, but does anyone know what model(s) Pontiac they are supposedly copied from?
