Bronco Bumper
I'm curious if anyone has installed an early Bronco bumper on their van? They are fairly cheap and appear to be the perfect width @ 68 1/2" or so and appear to be a similar shape. Compare that to the 75" of my 64's front bumper. They do mount totally different of course.

Re: Bronco Bumper
Seth, I asked that question before and got very little response...like you said, it's the perfect width but not quite the same shape. i've seen them on Broncos and they don't look too bad...and you can get them at a reasonable price...
I think there was an early Econo that had one mounted but I haven't been able to find the pic...if I do, I will post it...
I still haven't found the Bronco bumper pics but here's a couple of guys who put Camaro bumpers and they look pretty sharp...
HipEVan (Eric) rear...
and Dan from Econo FB site Camaro on front...

Re: Bronco Bumper
I was thinking that a first generation Camaro bumper would look good on my van, do you know what year the bumper was from on the blue van in the previous post?

Re: Bronco Bumper
That looks good! It looks like a truck bumper, while the from the Camaro looks like a car bumper. I guess it comes down to the look you are going for.

I agree, I like the truck look.
Marq wrote:Yea, but no bumpers look the best!
In some states no bumper is a no-no. Vehicles are required to have bumpers front and rear here in WA. I did drive my van for a time without bumpers though...
I'm going to section and re-weld my bumper, "foose" it as the other thread suggests. But If I wanted chrome bumpers at some point these Bronc bumpers may be the way I go, b/c my bumpers are pretty hammered.

I have a Camaro bumper waiting to be put on but I have not figured out the bracket yet. I am currently running no bumpers but I don't want to for much longer.

Wha...? Pic?
If it is chrome I think there's some paste that will keep it frm loosing that. The
'sectioning', plasma would need the same treatment while the saw, not.

Hi Chad, that's why the Bronc Bumper. My original will get sectioned and painted. If I wanted a chrome bumper like the Bronc bumper, it would be installed as is.

"...section and re-weld my bumper, "foose" it..."

Chip Foose was famous for shortening bumpers to make them better hug the body lines.
If there is a special feature in the center of the bumper, then sometimes a section is taken out near the right end and left end. It is all welded back together, and painted or rechromed.
Folks will do this with an Econoline 1961-1964 front bumper because they are too long and stick way out.

Re: Bronco Bumper
You can get anything you want for those damned Bronco's. Hell, you can build one all new from the ground up, better than ever. It'll cost ya 60 grand, but yeah, must be nice. Out here in Econoland it's quite different. Get's you thinking for yourself, how can I get this done cheap, easy and replaceable? Maybe w/o the easy.

The bronco bumper looks nice! I'll show this to my uncle for his new Econo project. He'll start working on it after installing the bumper and atv winches onto his youngest son's TRX.

Re: Bronco Bumper
One thing I have learned about Ford is that they used parts across their models. For instance, the radiator in a 1965 Mustang will replace the radiator in the 1961-1967 Econoline vans and pickups. So it would not be a surprise to me if the Bronco, Falcon or Mustang bumpers fit the early Econolines. Heck, the whole driveline is Falcon anyway.
