    Hi guys,

Cool forum. (not too familiar with these msg boards) I just purchased a 1966 Chevy G 10 from the Chicago area. Hoping to have it delivered here in Orange Cty NY in a few weeks. I'm sure I'll have a LOT of questions afterwards, so I'll be talking to you. Thanks.

Thanks G-Man! Yeah, I'm thinkng It'll work out OK. I have a band out here so it'll be perfect for that. I'm trying to be proactive so I can get using it right away. Are there any 'tricks' to keeping some of the heat out of the cab? Dynamat?

There are alot of ways to keep it cooler. Some harder than others. Putting a scoop on your belly pan keep it running cooler and if its running cooler, cooler doghouse. Dynamat will help too, but installing it with the motor still in there will make it harder. Donivan has a small fan mounted under there to pull some heat away. No matter what you do you will have to deal with some heat there. Do what we all do have all the windows down and drive fast. LOL

Another window and a sunroof and your van will be just about right,,,,,,a little fan in front of the radiator will help to keep the heat and smell down,,,,,,

And see if you got any insulation when you get the van,,,,,,,the bottom side of the doghouse will be easy to do,,,,the sides take a little more work,,,,,,this stuff really helps with the noise and heat

I'm looking forward to picking some brains as I get more into it. Thanks Moe.

Haven't seen it in person :-( But it sounds fairly solid. It came from FL and ended up in IL. It has a 350 w/3-on-the-tree. It looks and sounds like it's good to go and I can make imporvements as time goes on. He said someone had installed a pop-up vent in the roof that started to rust a little. The guy I bought it from took the vent out completely with intentions of filling in (welding) the hole. I may just put in another vent???? I think I bought it right enough that, even if it's suffering a little here and there, I'll be OK. Thanks guys.

    Hey Mike,

I did, a few years ago (a sedan delivery), and I just sold sold a '56 Chevy. Now I'm an early owner. There's a pic on the 55 sedan delivery on my bio on my bands web site: www.hotrodband.com. So this will make the perfect replacement for it. Thanks again!

Welcome Boss! I've been in South Carolina for over 20 years but grew up in Saugerties (and was just there yesterday). I went to HS with one of the owners of Sawyer Motors who sponsors a big car show each July. Working on getting my '64 Econo ready for next year's show (can't make it this time).

And oh yeah, I too play in a band and plan on doing this up with our band name on the side - mostly for advertising and just to amp up the cool factor (and make it retro to the late sixties). I'll be interested in seeing how you fix yours up.
