2nd Vin Location?

Hey VV friends,

So I am trying to register my recent purchase, 61 Econoline.   I am in CA and apparently AAA now requires verification of a secondary Vin to register something from out of state, I bought from Washington.  This van was originally in CA, I still have the old plate number and stickers for some reason, but no plates...I have researched and heard there should be a Vin behind a taillight,  I have searched and searched to no avail.  Also heard there is one underneath the dog house edge, That seems like a major pain in the ass to remove, clean up, find, drive to AAA and reinstall afterwards.  Apparently they just started this nonsense a few months ago.  Can someone share a picture of where they found their 2nd or 3rd VIN's.  Need help ASAP as I need this registered within 20 days to avoid penalties.

Look inside the van right rear taillight you should see it there.

i'd love to see them climb under a van in the winter to verify a vin # in the north east,

I believe the early trucks only had the vin stamped on the doghouse lip. It could be on either side or not there at all. I had a 62 that didn't have a number stamped anywhere on it. Sometimes you can find it on one of the rear corner braces. Again, it could be on either one or none at all.





On latter vans (65-67) the number was stamped on the trans hump behind the doghouse. Pickups didn't get stamped here because the rear wall of the cab was welded on in this area.

OK, I have searched this area to no avail on both sides. Can you tell me what it is stamped on? Is it on the cross brace behind the taillight? Any pictures to where someone has found on a 61 in the past?

Duane, I sanded down the passenger side cross brace and haven't found it there, I will sand the driver side I guess and see if it is hidden under the paint there. It is difficult to see in past the tail light brackets to see any numbers, plus there is a bit of surface rust making it difficult to see as well. What a PITA!

It can be on either side of the vehicle on the tail light brace. My 61 has it on the driver side but most I find on passenger side.

Great news guys, I found the 2nd vin! It is located on the driver side rear cross brace in front of the taillight area, facing inside, seen from inside the van. I'll try to upload a picture once I am on my PC. Can't seem to figure out how to upload photos from my cell....Thank you all for you help and direction.

Here is a picture of the secondary hidden VIN.  Hopefully this will help the next guy trying to find one. It was completely invisible until I sanded down the newest layer of paint. I believe my van was originally white inside and out and someone painted the interior tan.
