    I don't believe that early chevy vans have an indexing spline for the steering wheel hub.... Because there is no adjustment on the drag link, the only way to center the steering wheel post-alignment is to pull it off and put it back on straight....
    I've looked inside the steering boxes and I cant see anything in there to suggest that it needs to be centered , but there Is a pittman arm centering spline on the box to assure that it's close enough to center that it has full travel in both directions...
