    Radiator question? Empty Radiator question?

Post by bratbike Mon Dec 02, 2013 8:28 am

FINALLY got my Eco running. Then I noticed some anti-freeze in the radiator lip on top. Thought that a seam had split but noticed that it seemed to be from the pressurized cap. The noticed that a piece of copper tubing going thru a hole in the filler neck was loose. It's looks like someone had drilled a hole & stuck the tube in it for a drain & sealed with metal putty:affraid: . What's the use of a pressurized cap if you have a hole in the neck? Don't I need the pressure for the radiator & thermostat to work? Should I seal the hole?Question

There are 2 lips, one on top to hold the cap on, the other lower one for sealing the radiator,,,,,,,the overflow is between the two,,,,,,above the sealing lip,,,,,,,,so any pressure has to get past the lower lip to get up and out the overflow tube,,,,,,,,,

Mine just has a hole. The nipple is gone. They had the copper tube attached with metal weld(?). I thought they had added it themselves. So I need to re-attach somehow?

You don't really need it except if it pukes all over the place,,,,,,,and it should not,,,,,do you have the correct 14 lb radiator cap on it,,,,,but if you see green coolant on the outside of the radiator, ,,,,,,you got a problem.....
