Farting around on Craigslist the other day I found a gal doing a v8 swap on her 68 mustang. The engine runs but she was told it need to be rebuilt by the shop doing the swap. The ONLY issue she lists is as follows:

"The only known flaw with the engine would be with the rear most exhaust header bolt hole. The head had chipped off that portion that secured the header. No other cracks known in the block, no coolant in the oil."

She's asking $350 for complete motor top to bottom, front to back. Oh yea!! and the carb is original but was completely rebuilt less than 7000 miles ago.(i don't know what kind of carb) I currently have a 170ci in my 64 falcon with unknown miles. I just purchased it and the odometer reads 000000 (low miles right? haha)

Should I pick the motor up? If I send it out to get rebuilt what am i looking at spending? what should I do???

Also, I just found a 250 from with 50,000 miles out of a '79 Granada for $500 with a C3 transmission. Guy says it runs great. What's the better option?

Obviously the 250 is bigger but they really dumbed the motors down in the late '70s didn't they?
