Front door weatherstrip problem Empty Front door weatherstrip problem

    Post by RDR838 Wed Apr 10, 2013 2:59 pm

    Hey there,

We received the door weatherstrip today for the '67. As we never saw it with weatherstrip in place: Is it correct that it will go along the line of holes around the bottom side of the door? The Weatherstrip doesn't have these hooks I'm used to have on door weatherstrip but I guess it originally had these?

Does anybody know if it's even possible to mount weatherstrip without the hooks? Or can I even put these in myself? Someone sold these new, I don't recall who though.

Aditionally it looks like the rubber is too long. I'm thinking of just cutting it on the bottom. If it'll be glued into place that shouldn't be much of a problem, would it?

    Thanks!

there is some older post on this. try looking under search. the info had been posted. i'll see what i can find. Mine was long. and yes i did cut it but I used a large rivit that had a large washer on it . it worked very well, using the existing holes from the plactic push in tabs

I hope Rod gets to read this, I think he posted the photo's regarding the weather strip location on the front doors . I'm not finding it in my search.

I searched a lot but didn't find anything either. What's Rod's nickname on the board? I'd send him a message to ask if he knows how to find the post.

    Thanks again!

Out racing all weekend, sorry I didn't get back to this sooner.

Restoration Specialties was going to include the wire in the seal, but I haven't heard any news or asked about that.
Some came that way, some didn't.

There is a little 'flag' that mounts at the front edge at the base of the window area where the door swoops out. this and hopefully the rear 90 degree at the top back will get you close to aligning. I haven't done one yet.
I'd use weatherstrip adhesive to install, following directions (apply, allow to dry, stick on). Use tape, clothes pins, and whatever you can to hold it in place until it sets well.
    Always dry fit first!
