Spindle Bushing Reamer Needed Empty Spindle Bushing Reamer Needed

    Post by Jamesa66 Sun Dec 09, 2012 5:19 am

I'm replacing my spindle bolts on my 66 and evidently need a T61E-3110-B Spindle Bushing Reamer. Anyone know A. where I might get one? and B. what would be an alternative?

I have replace the bushings and am ready to go but cant get the spindle bolts started in the bushings. Suggestions much appreciated.

    Thanks!!

I just did mine as well. I spent too much time looking for a reamer and had a shop do it instead. For $100 it saved me a lot of hassle and I knew the job was done right. If you do end up reaming your own, check out a couple of posts on here. Sy Hollinshead has a post where he made a jig to be sure the ream was straight.

I used Action Machine, they turned it around in 24 hours and it worked it out great. Let me know if you need any help.

$100? Wow, that seems a little high! Shop around and see if you can get it done cheaper. 5 years ago I had a set done for $45 and I thought that was high, unless that included the bushing set.

Maybe?? Matbe?? there are some industrial / machins shop =tool rental places near u?? There is a reamer - that has shimms one can use to do that job!! Ive used them.ill also say =3M also makes diff sizes sanding type round Flapper wheels=i have some & that also can be used to fit the pin in the axle. Look for a buisness that sells bolts or air equip?/ All i ever called them was 3m flapper wheels .Do u know what size the pins are & sleves?? usually once pressed into the axle they dont take much to get to proper size. Are the sleves installed in the axle??

Shop time in this neck of the woods isn't cheap. Also, since we don't have income tax our sales tax is one of the highest (9.8%). Most of the reamers I found were at least $50 for a tool I probably would not use again. How much time would you spend jerking around with it to be sure it was right? In my case the extra $50 saved me more than $200 in swear words, headaches, and reassurance when driving it. It also gave me time to work on other things that were more than $50 in labor.

Like I said before some like the labor of doing it, the wealth of information on here shows that. Getting it the right size is the easy part, making sure it is straight is not. This is one of the few things I like to leave to the pros.
