Not 100% sure but I think that it should use 80wt-90wt gear oil. I know that the newer manual transmissions uses transmission fluid but I think that the older manuals used gear oil. Maybe one of the ford guys can give you a 100% answer.

Yep, Gear oil. 80-90 weight. Don't even think of using anything else.
