Engine rebuild cost??

Guys what do you think is an average cost for having a mechanic rebuild a 1960s ford Straight six 200ci motor?

These motors do not have a lot to them, but I really do not have the space or time to pull it and do myself especially during the holidays.

Those of you who have had a mechanic do this what did you pay?

R&R is likely going to cost you more than the rebuild if you take into a shop. city motor supply down there can be pretty cost effective on the rebuild of the engine.

if you can get a cherry picker… the extrication does not appear to be that difficult.

I have had a couple done recently but replaced everything. The 200 was about $3000.00 and the 250 was $2600.00. Most of the cost was machine shop costs and parts.

thanks for the info. I got a quote at $3000 grand. A bit more than Id like to spend. Looks like im going to have to find the time to do it myself.

other than the hot tank & bore & head work I do all myself as the darn labor rates here are 75 bucks an hour & up!! Way too much for this poor boy!!

Got a quote today from City Motor Supply for $900 total for everything, another shop quoted me $1000-1200.
