Eagle, I still would run a steel line from the fuel pump to the carb. I would put the fiter in the steel line under the van. I used to use rubber hose from the pump to the carb ,but with the crappy fuel we have know. The ethenol in the fuel eats rubber. Please be be careful, i had a year old rubber fuel line crack and leak on my 1958 harley last summer. Luckily I was just getting to go for a putt Bob

Great re-reading this post again. After my adventure today, I am concerned about doing this right. I picked up a plastic, see through filter. The parts guy saw no difference and I figured seeing the fitler was a good thing and I knew it was going under the van. Should I scrap it and go back to the metal one? No time to order the heavy duty one that was recommended by TP.

My 5 cents worth= install a nice frame / type filter mount & filter away from the engine compartment. Use metal lines and avoid all the engine heat & possible sparking that causes the fires to begin with. Be safe =be happy vannin Heres an example= http://www.ebay.com/itm/370554930913?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

    pan58head,
I made sure the rubber hose was ethenol resistant, most new hose is all you have to do ask the parts guy,
