What are you up to? - Page 19 Empty World's largest oyster roast

Post by Lazarusvan Sun Jan 29, 2012 4:21 pm

Our local oyster festival is the largest in the world. 10,000 people each year and 80,000 lbs. of oysters. This weather is amazing, even for Charleston. 60's and sunny. The van got tons of attention. It seems drunk people and those on their way to getting drunk are the biggest fans..

Cool thing happened. A 22 year old guy flagged me down and said he used to have a rusty '66 window van that bought off a guy in his backyard. Just so happens he powdercoats. Gave him this sight and hoping he joins. I need a local vanner.

Sweet ride, don't know what it is.

Thanks, TP. I go to New Orleans every year for the JazzFest. 13 years and counting. I've heard of Drago's, but never been. Nola food is awesome, as is our food in Charleston. Spoils you...

Received my cast aluminum bezels from Panhead (Bob) today. +1 for fast shipping. These things are thick and I can't imagine them becoming shiny. Don't know how they compare to factory jobs, but these aren't gonna get pinged by any rocks...

Very cool Lee. Those are a set of Dan's "Gotavan" castings. I like many of us here have a set. A bit of elbow grease and they clean up nice!

Good luck with your Dart. Post a pic or two...

I tried to post pictures of mine but am having some troubles. If you PM me with your e-mail I could e-mail you a few and if you would like you could post them here. BTW, they would still pass the van(s) in photo test as a bit of my A100 is in one of the shots. Mine is also a matching numbers Dart, it's a '68 GTS but with the 383 and 4 Speed console. Scott...

went to pull a part the other day as they had a 69 a100, it was pretty shot but did get the gas pedal and a turn signal lens. i want to go back and get the rear bumper before someone scarfs it or the crusher does as it was pretty straight and for $37. beats the one on ebay for almost $300. need to take my deep sockets and a heavier hammer but will be prepared this time, hope it waits for me.

welded my very 1st panel in:) been looking at that gap for way to many years. now i can start fitting my new quater panels. that small panel has been holding up progress on the rear of my van for to long.i had hoped that i would be able to take auto body II at the local vo-tec before trying to weld in the panels, but after 2 years, i'm tired of waiting. they never are able to get enough people to sign up, so they end up canceling the class all the time.i took my time, making sure i didn't have any warpage, and am very pleased with the results.
