Re: What are you up to?
Drove the Econoline to Lake Charles, LA today. On our way back we stopped in Sulphur for a late lunch/early supper. There were only a couple of customers inside. After a while one of the waitstaff came into the dining room and hollared, "Who's Volkswagen van is that outside? It sure is cute." We didn't say a word, but I did smile a little inside!

Re: What are you up to?
Chester42, your engine looks great! However we have had two other Vanners on this site who have had there good work destroyed by engine fires. I'm begging you, please get rid of that Neoprene gas line going to your carb! If you want to protect investment, install steel fuel line from pump to carb.

Re: What are you up to?
Edelbrocb carbs that I have seen only have hose connections at carb. Anyone have input on that ?
The fuel hose I use are ethanol resistent. How ever I plan to reroute the line to the side of engine and out from behind the water pump. It may help to stop vapor locking.

Re: What are you up to?
Chester42, the enemy here is engine compartment heat that destroys any kind hose over time. The dog house is smaller than a regular vehicle compartment and retains more engine heat. Make a custom steel fuel line and be safe.

Also -Just due to heat soak- dont install any Fuel Filter in the area. Use one inline & lower to the engine area-Happy Vanning

Re: What are you up to?
Here is a link to a fitting that will allow you to run 3/8" hard metal line directly in to your Edelbrock carb. If you go to your local auto parts store you can buy a section of 3/8" brake line with the pre-flared ends and it will thread right in and only need to be formed into the shape you require.

I plan to do something similiar with my Holley next year when I get it in.

Thanks White-lightning for the link to the fitting on the Edellbrocks. I ordered it this morning.Just need the energy to get it done. Old bones are starting to ache when doing to much bending and streching working in the dog house.[strike]

Been cleaning out the barn a little, craigslist is working good so far, went on a big bike ride labor day weekend, rode the tallbike to the Soo 370 miles heres the pics
The start East Lansing My son Brian and his new plastic bike.
Day two in Lake City
crossing the bridge, I wasn't sure the bridge authority would let my bike cross because of the wind.

Re: What are you up to?
Today I dropped the gas tank on the bugeye, wow how did it even run the sending unit looks shot and the gas I poured out looked like rust-o-leam red. I was disappointed and thought I was going to be lucky that it wasn't to bad but I was wrong and will need to take it and have it cleaned and coated and I definitely need a new sending unit. I am glad though that this southern weather has cooled and I can get busy working on it again.

Re: What are you up to?
We went to a car show in Eustis, FL.today. Had a 20 minute filmed interview with Jake, the owner and producer of Tailfins and Chrome. Interview may air in February. He had never seen these vans before and was very impressed with it. Tried to up load interview, but to large of a file.
We also won the best in our class.

Well I started out the day with a trip into town to get brake pads for the winstar. But that turned out to be a trip into town for a new fuel pump for the safari instead. Thank God there were still some pads left to make the trip...go figure.

Re: What are you up to?
Today youngest son stopped by to store his go kart with a fiberglass van body in my shed he wanted to trade it for the bugeye again and again my answer was NO ! so we wheeled and dealed and I ended up trading my old Elgin 25 outboard for a Snapper riding mower thaat needed carburator work, so again the bugeye sat and I started another project. Hope to take bugeye gas tank to radiator shop this week to get cleaned and coated.

Re: What are you up to?
Now working on wife chrysler 300 AC problems, I guess I need to hire someone to work on the Bugeye. Tommorrow headed to pull a part for parts for the Chrysler but did check for vintage vans - none but i'll snoop around anyways. I also like the recent bumper forum and got a few new ideas so will also check that out i'd really be excited to find a nice chrome bumper for $36 bucks.

Re: What are you up to?
Been working on the 2002 van.
Got the wheels and spacers figured out, had to replace the front studs with longer ones. Also cut a coil from the front. Still need to drop the back. The wheels are Dodge Ram truck aluminum. Still need to shorten the studs for the caps.
3 of the herd.
