I posted this at Oldeconolines but wanted to get input here also.

I have my p/u at a buddies shop to start the tub on it. I was wondering, if Im
only tubbing it a few inches each side, just over to the frame but not cutting or
notching the frame,do I really need a narrowed axle? Couldnt I just move the
spring perches in and relocate the them to the frame and leave the axle standard
width? I could get the desired tire width by compensating on the wheel offset
couldnt I? Am I missing something or would this work? It sure would save a lot
    of money.

IMO, a pair of real deep dish wheels would look best with some fat rubber. That would mean a narrowed rear end. Good luck with the project.

I agree with Carl. Something just doesn't look right about a wide tire on a negative offset wheel. Gotta have the deep dish!! I'm looking for a 8 or 9 inch rear now that is just 3-4 inches narrower than the stock Econo rear just so I can run some deep dish wheels I have here. I have to keep them inside the fender lip. Just about time to grab the tape and head out to the junk yard.

    Hey Tim,
Is this the look you are going for? IMO, this wheel/tire combo would look killer on your Econoline PU!
