Re: Hot Radiator Cap
13 lb cap,,,,,,,It does work on coolant recovery systems, or it will spit it on the ground if thats where you got the overflow hose running to, it does not have the release lever,,,reads from 30 to 270 degrees

Re: Hot Radiator Cap
Most Speed shops carry these or can get them in a day or two. Its a great idea even if its great once. Hot radiators don't get enough respect

Re: Hot Radiator Cap
I bet they are close enough to get the jist but I always trust the IR gun over any resistor based gauge from my experience and wide ranges I have seen right out of the box. You can pick up an IR gun for around the same cost as one of those caps and you can use it to check temp of pretty must anything you shoot the laser at. I like it because I can check t-stat housing, water pump outlet temps, and I check the radiator inlet and outlet and compare to test radiator efficiency. It allows you to narrow issues down quick. I have diagnosed stuck t-stats, clogged radiators etc. with my IR gun.

Re: Hot Radiator Cap
Ya I thought they were cool too until I tried one. The first time it was used it died and the thermometer always reads overheat even on a cold engine. I have a buddy at Lordco and Napa and they both say they don't carry them anymore because most get returned do to leaking, wrong reading or they don't do the pressure they are supposed to hold.
Most people I talk to say they are made in China junk and I am afraid I have to say I now share that opinion.
Here is mine on a cold engine.
