Re: Between my seats..............
Holy crap! What's your exhaust configuration? I'm sure I listened to it before, but today was with my studio headphones, and that rumble was bass-y!!! Lovin' it!

do you have an x-pipe in there too? And what's a 40 series muffler? give me a little primer on mufflers... I am familiar with choosing different sizes of exhaust pipe... thanks. I know the big muffler on my 240 gives it a deep throaty sound, though quiet.

A series 40 muffler is made by Flowmaster

Re: Between my seats..............
Like G-Man says, the 40 series is a Flowmaster muffler. 2 chambered to give some back pressure but still plenty loud. The 40 series also isn't too bad for interior resonance.

Re: Between my seats..............
If you want throaty Flowmaster makes the Delta Force Racing mufflers. They are single chamber and very loud. I put them on Vanishing Breed and on my 65 Econo. They are about five inches long and 10 inches wide. Add zoomies and you will get everyones attention.

The race series mufflers are very cool, very loud and nice and small and easy to locate.

Wow... Flowmaster's site has excellent descriptions of all their different series! Thanks! I now understand what "40 series" means in terms of giving your truck that great sound! I can also appreciate that it's a pretty free-flowing muffler only having two chambers... less restrictive than most of their other series!

Re: Between my seats..............
You guys have gotta stop... I'm drooling all over my keyboard, never mind the mess I may be making on my chair!
I guess now, I will be facing exhaust upgrades to every project I get! My 63 wants to sound like that! Too bad it just has the 170 in it! No, not ready for a V8. Just gotta make the 170 as good as I can get it.

Re: Between my seats..............
Well food for thought............................ the V8 swap is very easy on these things, grab a stock sbf, aod and a 9" and your good to go. I freshened up the 302 with some " go fast" internals but a stocker would be just perfect as well.
