Re: Old School Retro Interiors
I used paneling on the 3 vans I've had. Here is an old image of my Chevy inside. The plastic celing straps held surfboards. Had fiberglass insulation behind the wood to dampen sound and keep it comfortable. Not so showy, but practical compared to sheet metal walls.

Take a look at the Features from previous years on this page:
http://showtrux.com/showvans/index.html
You may find an idea or two in there.

Check out abebooks.com, enter Paul Dexler as the author and vans as a key word and you should find copies of the e-bay book that can be bought (for about $8 with shipping) without going through the auction.

Yes that is button tuck. You can buy it in a roll with the patern already sewn in. If you look at my 65 it has blue and white tuck and roll.

Re: Old School Retro Interiors
Shows what I know... I thought "tuck and roll" was a technique used to exit a speeding vehicle! So Mike, is this where the cover is stitched to the padding and a backing layer before it's installed, or do you know?

Yes. When I was in high school tuck and roll was the "in" thing to do to the interior of any ride. Then button tuck caught on.sasktrini wrote:Shows what I know... Re: Old School Retro Interiors
Great stuff enbro! The foldaway bed idea is really cool!
Mike, I think tuck and roll is a very clean look, maybe preferable to the plushy look of button tuck... maybe too many conversion vans were done with button tuck. I'd like my van to have that classic hot rod look... the straight lines... I gotta learn to sew! I'm gonna google tuck and roll, see if I can find detailed how-to! I'm inspired! Of course if I find anything, I'll share!

Re: Old School Retro Interiors
It cost me $350.00 to have the tuck and roll done but that included the skirt around the bottom and two new seat belts. I have always been a big fan of tuck and roll since I think it looks clean in anything. Red and white, green and white, blue and white and purple and white are the best combinations in my opinion but orange and white and a bright yellow and white look good to.
