Re: 64 A100 P/U Resurrection
Nah...the total package probably weighs about 30 pounds, if that. It's constructed from 1x1 tubing and 16ga for the skid plate. I decided to actually over build a little and add a skid plate just to be safe...whats a few pounds anyway?67a 100 pickup wrote:All that steel around the fuel cell and you won't need the stock 150 pound block that they bolted at the back of the truck.

Re: 64 A100 P/U Resurrection
Did you find that weight back there Dan? It's supposed to be there so that the rear end stays on the ground during a panic stop.

Re: 64 A100 P/U Resurrection
After the burn out I did in the wsds van all cut down kind of like a pickup, I figured the extra weight was to give you some traction, not stopping ability.

I see why you did the skid plate, it does hang down under the bumper.

Thanks
I only need 1...some guys need 2 for greater fuel needs, whatever they may be. Looks pretty cool hangin down there tho. Skid plate was a must have to protect the sump from road debrisitruns wrote:Looks great. Are the dual outlets for nox?

Re: 64 A100 P/U Resurrection
yeah i tried the dupi color under coating i dont like it at all the 3m under coating is nice i like that alot more. i like the frame for the fuel cell i think thats how im going to have to do mine in the back of my van.. either that or mount it inside the van but id rather keep away from putting it in side. what size fuel cell is that?

Re: 64 A100 P/U Resurrection
I hate undercoating, It never fully cures everything sticks to it sand road grime ect... I just clean every thing up nice and shoot the whole underneith chassie black. The whole prosess takes a couple of days but the results look great and is easy to clean.

Yah maiden voyages are FUN! There even better when you dont have to push them home! Ben there done that! Why is it you allways have to push up-hill ? Heater cores are ez on our A's compared to some of todays cars. Let us know how you make out with the heater core, Im not sure of any place that selles new ones ( I never had to change one.) I do know good radiator shops can rebuild/make a new one. Had to do that with a 62 Buick, the guys at NAPA laughed at me when I asked for a heater core for that.

Good thing you didn't have to push, my ole'lady won't get in anything I'm working on until I have at least 100 miles on it, BUT she will follow in her van to give me a ride home.

Found a replacemnet
Out with the old
In with the new
On the down side...I need an exhaust manifold. The old one broke where it had been welded before

Re: 64 A100 P/U Resurrection
so is this the engine you were looking for casting numbers on? it has a pre 70's head on it by the tubes around the spark plugs. double front pulley possibly out of a truck. there should be a date code on the block too. as for the exhaust manifold you might as well get a clifford header and wrap it well. probably cheaper than a cast one and wont be warped. i see in the pics you made a boo boo in the length of chain. hittin the top of the door and draggin on the wheel arch. i remember doing that in the 70's changing the engine in my 69 van.

chech for straightness before install and loosen the bolts between the intake and exhaust. then tighten the intake to the exhaust. make sure you have all the triangle wedges in place.
