Hello everyone. I've been lurking here for a couple of years now and finally decided to post. I have a 67 A-100 with a 318 and auto trans. I bought it really cheap three years ago and am finally getting to it. Plans are to freshen up the motor, A518 trans, front disc brakes, and custom paint. You can follow along at masterofnada.blogspot.com. I warn you now that there are naked ladies on there so, if you don't go for that don't look. I'll try to post some progress here as well.

That's a nice 67. Take lots of pictures of the side window instal. I'm thinking of doing the same thing. Interesting that my 67 has the late model doors but no dash crash pad. Don

Re: My 67 A100
Thanks for the welcome. So, I take it you guys can see the pics? They don't show up for me. Once my 7 days are up I'll post more stuff. I'm dropping off the window templates today so progress will be limited to engine tear down and cutting out rust. I only have two rust areas to deal with, that is until the paint is removed there might be more.
This van is titled as a 66 but it came with a 318, dual pot M/C, and that silly passenger dash pad. My guess is that it was re titled at some point after dropping out of the DMV system. The original owner is supposedly doing life in prison.

Re: My 67 A100
Actually the low ratio works out because I'm going to put an OD trans in it. That should put me at 2200 rpm at 70 mph.

Yeah, finding a OD trans that will play nice in a 90" WB Dodge may be like finding a unicorn. Someone got a 4 speed manual in there (using the dash shifter for reverse), but other than that I only know of a guy who put a FI Chevy 4.3 V6 with a GM 4 speed auto which worked OK.

If you can find a short tail shaft overdrive tranny we would all be interested.

Re: My 67 A100
I'll try to remember to take pics. The a518/46rh is only slightly longer. I'll fab a crossmember and shorten up the drive line.

Re: My 67 A100
The A100 727s used a special short tailshaft not found on any other other vehicles that I know of. The overdrive tailshaft U-joint may end up just short of the differential U-joint. Would be awesome if you can make something work.

Re: My 67 A100
Right now the big hang up is time...and money. I'm working on one piece door windows. Someone on vannin.com stumbled on it and there seems to be a bit of interest. I'll be sure to document how I do it so anyone interested can set theirs up too.

Re: My 67 A100
Eliminating the vent window will be a cool look. I personaly like them though because I always wear a hat.... I know what thinking....what kind of hat? Well thats beside the point, my point is that the arrow dynamics of these shoe boxes with wheels is such that at highway speeds w/the driver window open a large truck passing in the opposite direction in the oncomming lane or even a stong cross wind will blow my hat into the back of the van...causing bad words. However, with the fart window open this does not happen. The California mirrors may have a effect on this too.
Again, I think it will be a cool look, I'm not trying to say its a bad move, its just something I've noticed.

Re: My 67 A100
the dodge d-series trucks from the late 70's and early 80's had a short tailshaft transmission too. they are hard to find as well but the output shaft is the same length as a-series vans and pickups but they don't have a hanging mount.
