Did any of the a100's ever have air conditioning?

Yes they did. All the earlies had dealer installed so called "factory" a/c available as well as models installed by conversion companies of the period. I ve seen several different style examples of all the makes.

I would suggest that unless you are trying to have a restored factory look, get a new aftermarket system. Call or write the various manufacturers (check a street rod mag or online source) and describe what you want.

I'll second that. I had factory A/C on my 68 A100 and it was prone to overheating. Keep in mind this was in 1971 and the van had less than 30,000 mi on it. Don

I guess the aftermarket is the best option, however it would have been neat to have the factory outlets, to keep it looking "old". Can't say I have ever seen that on any interior photoes I've looked at though. Anyone have a picture how "stock" is supposed to look?

The "factory" A/C looked more like an add on install. As I remember it had a boxy enclosure and four rectangular vents just under the center of the dash. i think with some work you could do a really nice installation with a Vintage Air set up.

Send me your email and I can send a pic. I took my ac out (68), figured it would cost to much to restore and it does take up room in the front.
I had the complete system for sale but no takers, it is heavy, also not sure if it worked. The blower and clutch worked but that is all I know.

ac on the a100
My 67 a100 which I owned i the late 60's early 70's had the so called factory AC on it. This was in So Cal and the AC was helpful. It had the squirrel cage on the roof and it vibrated alot when it was on.
If you opt to go for a after market unit you will most likely get one with the new freon and a much more efficient compressor. The older unite were real power robbers. I would be intrested in seeing what you find it you do look for one.

My Sportsman had the dealer installed rooftop AC unit which looks really ugly so I took it off and we got rid of it. I think we still have the vents and all though, took them out too, after all they were just add-ons. If you want the vents and stuff (I have mostly everything except the unit I think) I'll dig em out but they're the tannish brown color, I'll try to get pics if I find em.

Yes, generally they were mounted on the roof. I don't have the ac unit itself anymore, but I think I have everything else.

I have A/C in mine, but it's not factory. In the last pic you can sorta see it. https://vintage-vans.forumotion.com/member-s-showcase-f2/66-a100-aka-sin-bin-t16273.htm
I will try to post more later.

The earlier modles had the condencer mounted on the roof. The newer ones were in front of the radiator a lot of the travco motorhomes had ac.
