I would like to put a larger (3-4) core rad in my 64 with a 350- does anybody know of a rad that will fit without too much modification?

Can anybody recommend a rad for a 64 with a 350?

take the old 6cyl one to a radiator shop and have them re-core it with a large 3 core or 4 core , or if the bucks don't scare you there are a bunch of radiator fabricators out there http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&channel=s&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hs=Xqk&q=custom+aluminum+radiator&revid=552203032&ei=8UfBSvTtC4zP8Qb7tYWxAQ&sa=X&oi=revisions_inline&resnum=0&ct=broad-revision&cd=1
problem you will have attempting to find something to fit... is space in the doghouse...
i used a new ford radiator in place of a vert flow radiator i had in a 67 with a smallbock.. worked great was around 150 bucks or so
the info/part numbers is archived on vcvc and may be here someplace too

found the info: (advance auto's should be able to order this one too)
he dimensions are very close to an original
READY-RAD RADIATOR
1800-777-rads
part number 43-3397
replaces industry model 397
application is ford truck 8 cyl
core size 18.5 X 18.5 inches
overall height 24.5 inches top to bottom
(1 inch taller than original)
mounting plates are on the forward side of radiator, i had to mod some long bolts and spacers to mount the radiator forward that distance, but easy enough
and filler neck is in the center no biggie
for the price it's worth it to me
it is a vertical flow radiator
just like a first gen but has 3 rows
and the tanks are slightly larger my cost was 169.00
my old radiator was a 6cyl one i was also running on an 8 banger so this definitely works

I thought the radiator Leadfoot used is for a Ford tractor has a larger top tank , but is very narrow about 19" wide. I use 2nd gen 6 cyl. radiator in my 64 with 327, fits and had no problems.

thats was someone else who found a ford tractor one that fits too
have to be careful of tractor radiators though
the "flow" is meant for low rpms and may not do well on highways

When they went to V8 engines, the 2nd gens installed a wider doghouse, crossflow radiator with 4 rows of tubes, a fan shroud, a surge tank and built a tunnel through the floor to let more air flow into the radiator. But the best you can do on a 1st Gen is to put in a SportVan 3 row of tubes, radiator, which is wider than the stock one. They leave off the passenger side core support and bolt the radiator right to the doghouse on that side since it is so wide. That 2nd Gen radiator would work if you modified the strap on the passenger side to mount it,,,,,,,,,
