Exhaust is a really tough suggestion. What one person loves somebody else thinks it sucks. There are no easy solutions to exhaust options w/o spending money on different mufflers. If you don't use a split manifold it won't have true duals. But then again a lot of the the split manifold 6 cylinders don't sound good either.

My van has the 200 6 and a traditional 4" can style muffler, same as a mail truck runs, and it sounds just like the mailtruck going by... Rolling Eyes

When I hear a car, truck or van with an exhaust I like I'll try to run the owner down and ask what it is. The last one I had that I liked was glass packs with headers on a 302 v8 mustang. The last truck I heard with a really nice exhaust was a late model ford with a 5.0 and had Rousch exhaust, very nice. I have a nephew with a v6 mustang with Borla and it does sound quite good for a v6.

Good luck and keep us updated.

I have a single exhaust attached to a slant 6...
I had the muffler, which is a Flowmaster 40 series installed about a foot away from the rear axle and then the exhaust pipe runs back and out under the driverside rear panel behind the wheel.
I have had people ask me what size v8 I was running when they heard it idling!
Out on the road or in places like SanFran driving on some of the freeways, when I drop this thing into second gear and stomp it - it sounds awesome! The echo through some of the concrete jungles is pretty cool!

Anyway, it sounds rather deep and quiet enough while driving to not be obnoxious.
    Hope this helps,
    dan

edited so i could add that I am running an isky cam in my slant6 so it doesn't idle normally...

Thanks for your insight, I'll let you know which direction I go. I'm finding that there's a lot of videos posted on youtube so that you can get an idea of what a different muffler will sound like.

I don't know if Ford's are like Mopars but, at least go with 1/4" larger pipe all the way thru will help with tone and flow. I had the cheap ass Summit turbo muffler that literality exploded on mine and I got a Maramount performance something on there now. 225 that dumps before the tire. Sounds pretty much stock but flows great

I replaced the exhaust on my 170 with a short resonator(glas pack) tube and a dynomax turbo. All 2.25" exited in front of rear tire. I love the sound of this combo and there was a notable improvement in the motor, but the old log muffler was shot and plugged so whatever. But I'm going to use the same exhaust with my 250.

As stated, exhaust note preference is highly subjective. If you like a more throaty droaning exhaust you may prefer a flowmaster type muffler, I've you like a more mellow deep smooth tone you may prefer a dynomax type muffler.

My exhaust is connected to a 250cu in equipped with a webber 32/36 and a stock exhaust. It sounds really good not to loud but people think there is a v8 in there.

so.... I ended up going with a flowmaster super 44, I kept the original diameter exhaust pipe ( 2'') to keep some compression. trying to save a little horse power, need all this 240 can spare.

I had the I inlet and 2 outlet installed to get that duel exhaust out DA back .. will attempt a picture download soon.

Thanks to all that responded..........VAN ON

I have a Dynomax (if I recall) that splits into 2 3" pipes that come out in front of each back tire.
It makes the truck sound like a V8...really mean and rumbly.
