I took it down to the tire shop ,trailer and all to have them throw a good skin on the rt rear, took it back to the pit and backed it off and drove it around some.

Finally got the 69 in the shop the other day, stripped the front bumper and some odd stuff, cleaned out about a 5 gallon pails worth of squirrels nests.
    Digz's new addition, 69 A100 PU 09-2-110
In order to take the rear bumper off tho I figured I better get rid of that (what I thought was a small leak! ) leaking gas tank before I put a torch to it.
    Digz's new addition, 69 A100 PU Workin10
Got the tank out with some effort due to some rusted strap bolts. And was able to see all the tiny holes.
    Digz's new addition, 69 A100 PU Tank_h10
It was leaking in 1 spot until I took a scraper to the area, then it was like a small shower, about 6 gallons later I was good to go. Just going to work on the leaf springs and brakes for now, deal with the body later on after I get the needed pieces in order.

I think those are stock hub caps. The '69 WSDS radio van I parted out had a set of those on it. The rust pattern looks the same as mine so it must be a Michigan truck.

I had a customer at the pit say something about getting the tank lined with plastic? Possibly some place in Lansing MI. I will be checking with a local shop that advertises tank repair also, (these guys also seem to check radiators using an icepick) so I'm not expecting much from them. I have what I think is a non leaking tank off my 66 but it set up for that single sideways strap. I am going to try to fix it tho one way or another ! Yeah D, I'm pretty sure its a MI truck, was even undercoated at onetime in its life, I still think folks put to much faith in that junk. JMO

My tank had small holes like that. I cleaned the tank up and soldered the holes using a small gas torch and normal electrical solder, and then treated the inside with POR15 tank sealant. It has worked a treat. No more leaks and no rust in the fuel lines anymore....

I'm working on it, had to buy a couple more sticks of that epoxy. I did some very light tapping with a welding hammer and found out it was way to thin to even try a solder job in some spots. got the rear brake hose and enough new brake line to make the back run today. just have to steal a little time to tinker on it now. it does have newer brake shoes on it, but the drums are far from new looking. I see Im missing the ground tab on the sending unit and my lock ring is toast ( got an extra?). do a final test on the sender tomorrow to see if its okay,, get my ground in the right place and see if that calms those eratic readings I had down.

I got the bottom holes epoxied today, at least I think I do. Some dummy kinda over did it with the hammer.

This is the epoxy I used, I had tried another kind but wasnt happy at all with it and dug it out. This stuff has enough color differential to tell when it is blended good enough.
    Digz's new addition, 69 A100 PU Epoxy_10
I would suggest not working up anymore than 3/4" worth at a time.
    Digz's new addition, 69 A100 PU Mostly10
I think it also likes a warmer temp to set up quickly, I was working in and out of the sun and it was much faster with the extra heat on this mid 60's day.

One other thing I am going to try is fixing the leaking float, I drilled a very small hole in it to blow out the gas, will try my hand with a soldering gun on it to seal it back up.

Got the tank ready for the lining treatment. Did the rinse out with the degreaser/cleaner, I can see why pooling could be a problem now, the inlet and the vent both protrude into the tank about 3/8", same with the sending unit hole. this makes it very difficult to get rid of any excess liquid. I got the rear bumper cut off this afternoon, thats pretty crusty back there. Just for fun I scored some 14x7 keystones at a yardsale yesturday, tires are junk but what the heck , the price was right.
