    One more thing:

    The "GEN" light on the instrument panel comes on and off intermittently while driving....has anyone else had this happen or could you tell me what you think might be the issue?

    The best test would be to hook a voltmeter up and see if the voltage drops when the light comes on. Things that affect the light are loose fan belt or wiring,,,,,,see that the connectors are tight on the voltage regulator and alternator,,,,,and, of course, the alternator or voltage regulator could be going bad. Low idle could cause the light to come on,,,,,,,
