Does a 1968 GMC Handi Van really exist ?

Newbie here....
Ive had this 1968 GMC Handi Van for 15 years now.It's my prized possession.The only problem i have is that every time i need a part and go to a parts store,tell them what i have,it doesn't come up on there computer(it doesn't exist).They have a 1968 GMC Rally,1968 GMC Vandura,1968 Chevy G10....ect. They have every van made except for a 1968 GMC Handi Van.I even looked up the vin# to make sure i knew what i had and i wasn't crazy.
This is what i got.......

Year: 1968
Make: GMC
Model: G1500 Handi-Van
Sub-Model:
Style: 1/2 Ton 4x2 Cargo Van

Every time i try to get parts at a auto parts store,on ebay,at a junkyard,or anywhere,they dont have this van listed anywhere.They have parts for every van out there but mine it seems.
Does anyone know why?

G-10 parts have worked for me in the past.I thought I was just getting lucky with the parts fitting...LOL.
I didn't want to take anymore chances.I'm still baffled that part stores,junkyards or even ebay don't have this van listed anywhere.

Welcome to Vintage-Vans!!! I have a 69 Chevy 90 van & a 69 Gmc Handi van. I buy all of my parts for a 69 G-10 1/2 ton van for both of them. That's a nice looking van you have. Sure would like to see more pics of it

I have a 69 GMC Handi Van that between my dad and myself have had for 36 years. It never mattered which auto parts store we went to in Arizona,Cali or Wa State they would always tell me they didnt make a regular van called a Handi Van and that my van had to be a huge catering van (step van)

You can't count on any parts stores comments about these early vans. Alot of the original parts info is lost or mixed up.

The lads on this site know more then anybody about parts and part numbers.

You're probably better off by sayin G10 or G20.That 5 thing really throws the counter guys off.And the '68 number will raise an eyebrow as well.

Man I love your van & the inside is killer!!! There was a producer of a TV show looking for Vintage Vans with 70's theme interior in them to put on TV. I think that your van would of well qualified for the job!!!

My van looks better in pictures than it does close up.The outside needs alot of bodywork and the inside got torn up and staind real bad from mice over the winter.I cought 16 mice in there after they wrecked everything including the wiring for my stereo and rear lights.My van is concidered a rat by most people but i enjoy it,and everyone that see's it seems to like it.It use to be a show van in the late 80's and early 90's.

Well with the Hot Rod engine that you have in it along with the Rats I guess you can say that its a true Rat Rod:-........,,,
