We sell em at the shop I work at.. A lot of classic hot rod people buy them and really enjoy them. They say they keep a great charge and are quite dependable. And thats coming from people with some bigger engine motors, with high performance ignition systems and coils and stuff.

Me personally, Ive never owned one.. so I don't know for sure. I just know we have a few customers that really like them.

I had two Optimas in Vanishing Breed and have two of them in my blue 65 Econo too. Never had any trouble with them and they last a lot longer than Sears Die hard. In fact I have only used one battery that was better. It was made by Teledyne Lars and weighed 175 pounds. It was the same ones made for the Abrams Tank. I once left my stereo on for three days straight and it started right up. If you have a powerful stereo system or just have a lot of electrical stuff I was told to use four 6 volt batteries. Supposedly will last even longer than that big battery I had. I am considering doing that once I get all my electrical crap hooked up. Been looking at some 6 volt batteries that are about 16" tall. 16" long and 10" wide. Over $150.00 apiece but they guarantee I won't be able to run them down at a two day car show even if I left everything on including headlights for the whole time.

Optima is a great battery. The gel cel technology is wonderful... no lead acid to spill, no corosion, no fumes. There are other gel cel batteries on the market that are very similar to an optima, but a little less costly. I'm talking about exide orbital.

I have owned both the Exide Orbital and the Optima... and others in my family have experience with both batteries as well. I think they are both great, but you pay more for the Optima because of the name. Exide Orbital batteries are available at Napa and walmart. Seems the Oribital lasts a little longer than the Optima... maybe its higher quality, or there may be other factors. I'm not an expert.

Next battery I buy will most likely be an exide orbital.

I bought my first one when they first came out years ago. I had to go to a car stereo shop then. And then the guy really questioned me why I wanted one because I didn't have a big sound system. I really like them. A great thing is no fumes, which means no corrosion on the terminals. I actually drain one once and my little 10 amp battery charger kept tripping it's thermal overload. So I had to bring it inside and sit it in front of an AC window unit so it wouldn't trip. They can put out a lot of power quickly and take it in too. And the way they hold a charge is great too.

Just seen a test of battery's in Hot Rod or Car craft and the Optima performed better than the rest they tested. Seemed the yellow top performed better than there Red top battery???

    1 in the Van
    2 in the Jeep
    1 in the Cadillac
    4 in the Boat
And will never use any other battery!!!! They are "AWESOME"

And when they start making them for motorcycles I will buy one.

Had one in the T-Bucket. It laid on its side due to clearance issues. Never had a problem with it, it could sit for 3 or 4 months, and would start right up.
