Have a '68 G10 and need to get the marker lights working, maybe add electric windows.

What is the best way to get power to the doors and manage the wiring in a tidy way.

    Thanks so much.

I will check. Just assumed (my bad) that they were side markers. The van has been worked on quite a bit from multiple folks and the wiring is a mess. Thought they had just removed the wiring to make things easier. Thanks for the guidance.

For anyone else, would still be interested in power windows as an option.

My 69 had side reflectors in the front, and side lights in the rear. the wiring all ran to each side of the van individually. the passengers side had the tail lights that also powered the side marker as well as the Brake/Signal only. The drivers side had the Tail lights that also powered the side marker and the license plate light and the brake/signal light. The drivers side wiring also had a wire coming from the fuel sending unit to the gauge in front.

So hows the wiring getting out to the license plate light? They also use this spring set up that lets the wires run through it and the door slides over the spring,,,,,

Here are some pictures of what I had done. I bought two 5/8" x 12" springs and 4 3/4" plastic grommets. secure one end and add a smaller spring inside the door to pull it in.

    2" From inside of door.

6 1/2" down from bottom bolt on top hinge.

On the A pillar drill 4" up from door check and 1/2 " forward. drill 3/4" holes in door and pillar. Note there is two panels to drill through on both.

Insert the spring and secure it with a "R" clamp.

    install the grommets.

I ran speaker wires marker light wires and interior step light wires. 6 Wires all together. Don't tape them together they need to float around in there to open and close.
