    Fuel Gauge Empty Fuel Gauge

Post by Stomper Wed Aug 25, 2021 10:50 am

I've never seen the fuel gauge working in my '69 G10, so don't know what its behavior is supposed to be. It is stuck at about the 1/4 tank mark all the time, whether the ignition switch is on or not. Is it supposed to go down to empty when the ignition switch is off? If so, does that imply the gauge itself is likely the problem, rather than wiring, fuse or sending unit?

Sounds like it has no power,,,,,,see if it takes a fuse in the fuse box and see if it is connected in back of dash.....

Seems like a reasonable course of action. Hard to see up there. I assume the easiest way to determine if the gauge is connected would be to pop the gauge cluster out. To remove it, all I can see is one nut at the bottom of the cluster in a really awkward spot. If I manage to get that nut off, does the top then just angle out by lifting the bottom, or are there clips of some sort?
