Ok, so i did a google search myself (I know, I should have done that first) and found this page http://www.inliners.org/casting/numbers.html which says it is a Buick/Olds/Chev/Pont/GMC 62-78 230-250. How would I know if it is a 230 or 250 or did chevy only make one or the other?

From what I could get off this list ,it should be a 230 cid. Just took another look I see what you mean, it is a little generic on the ID

If it's a 230/250 block the only sure way is to check the stroke since the bore is the same. As I remember a 230 stroke is 3.25 inches and a 250 is 3.50 inches.

i did some checking in some reference materials I have and it seems the 1966 was only available in a 190 and a 230. So i guess it is a 230.
