Road trip 2019

,,,,And it SURELY was NOT a good week to travel through California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Illinois,,,,it was a bad night to be in Joplin Wednesday,,,but made it here to Chicago and here was some of the ,,,,,STUFF,,,,,I saw during the week....

Almost every trip you take is during bad weather...glad to see you made it safely! I finally got to see
some of the sites in your pictures for myself last month on my bucket list vacation on Rte 66. When I first met my wife, she had a Honda 125 and your bike reminds me of hers. Did you get a chance to visit on this trip?

Nope,,,,I usually Take I-40 to Memphis and head up to Wideloads in Kentucky but he said weather looks bad so I headed up to St Louis from Oklahoma City through Tulsa and Joplin,,,,and that was not a pleasant trip,,,,I surely felt my motorhome was being lifted off the ground at times during the night storms at the Missouri rest stop,,,,,but,,,am I trapped here now?

Sure glad you made it through OKC before last night. It was "Drop a House on a Witch Weather" again! A couple people were killed by a tornado in El Reno(just a few miles West of OKC) and we've had flooding off and on for nearly a month. I'm glad you made it safe!

I stopped there at Autozone and Oreillys for a fuel pump,,,,engine was loosing power at times but recovering after a few seconds,,,i am going to put my spare carb on for trip back,,,,

Safe travel mate. Your trip pictures are worth watching but I am also interested to look at your van's interior.

Just got back to San Diego,,,,,,worst road trip EVER!!!!!
I will be uploading pictures shortly,,,,,,there were only 7 days without rain in Chicago,,,,,I heard Tornado sirens going off a few times,,,,,,,I have to spend 3 nights on the road which is really old Route 66, now called I-44 and I-40,,,,,,roads were HORRIBLE,,,,,,,I had to pull over and stop and check my tires a couple of times because I swear I was driving on a flat tire!  And lots of rest stopswere closed,,,,that means you keep driving to find a truckstop and have to park and try to sleep next to Semi trucks running their reefer  and engines all night and smelling diesel fumes,,,,, and the WIND,,,,some gusts would hit me so hard it would actually stop me in my tracks for a second as if I hit a brick wall,,,,,,My motorhome still would not run right on the road after driving about 5 hours,,,,,it would just loose power,,,,slow down but then get back up to speed,,,,those Semis going 80 mph did not appreciate that,,,,,,,I stopped and put on my spare carb in Oklahoma City Tuesday but that was better but troubles got worst in Arizona,,,,,,but I will start the pics in awhile after I unpack,,,,

You're scaring me. I'm supposed to drive out to see my cousin in Arkansas the week of the 4th of July. He says they're high and dry but I don't know about the roads getting there. I'm planning on driving my van if all goes well with getting my new motor in. I should be able to start driving it after this weekend. Your trip sounds like a nightmare though.

Lots of bad news on TV about Arkansas,,,,,,the river is overflowing,,,with cars floating in it,,,,,But I needed to head West, back through,Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona and across the California Desert and mountains,,,,,I would say i spent 8 days, 100 hours hanging onto my steering wheel, 10 hours a day for 2100 miles,,,,,and during that you just cant think straight at times,,,,,but here we go,,,right before St Louis,,,i sees this place,,,,,

I'm glad you made it back in one piece.

While I was cruising my little Honda scrambler to Joliet State prison, I met 2 people from Germany on their 1000cc Honda that were traveling the World,,,,they started by having their motorcycle flown from Germany to Fairbanks Alaska in October, drove through Alaska and Canada,,,,,now headed for Florida, then across the States to Los Angeles and stopping in San Diego to get their cycle serviced before heading through Mexico and South America,,,,,with their tent and sleeping bags strapped on their cycle,,,,,,,this dont seem like a good idea to me,,,,,,,,,,,but I might see them here in October,,,,,

I am with you that a nice van is a great way to travel however for others BMW motorcycles and a tent are all you really need for years of exciting travel!

The World is changing,,,,,,TV says 4 million people are heading north towards the United States this year,,,,,surely they will come across some desperate and evil people that will do them harm,,,,,,

So I get through Missouri,,,,,and truck acting up in Oklahoma City, so I put on spare carb,,,,,then in New Mexico, I get hit by a hailstorm,,,,,had to pull over to keep it from breaking my windows,,,,,,and then I get to Flagstaff,,,,,,

Swiss Army Edsel??? Probably never get stuck with that one...
