Re: Side mirror gasket material
This k source mirror looks very similar. Wonder if it would just bolt up to your post. Only $10 at OReilly's. I seriously doubt you can find a replacement gasket for the original mirror.

There's a good chance they have it, or know where you can get it.

Re: Side mirror gasket material
Thanks for the information.
Doing a little more research it appears that the square mirrors that I have are not original so my need to restore these has diminished.
Couple questions, per this view the mounts I have match the PN, C1UB-17743-A with spacer CiUB-17B697-A.
I see no other numbers so the same part is used for both sides? Spacer is also common?
If I go back to a round mirror anybody know what diameter it is?

Re: Side mirror gasket material
C1UB 17743-A is the Arm for the mirror. This is the painted version.
The chrome Arm is C2UZ 17743-A
The entire mirror Kit for one mirror is C1UZ 17696-D for the painted version.
C2UZ 17696-C is the Chrome mirror Kit.
These mirror heads are 6" diameter.
They are the same for left and right.

Re: Side mirror gasket material
Thanks jdlaugh for the info on the replacement mirror heads, that is exactly what these were.
They would not unscrew so I had to cut the nuts off but the mounts were ok, sort of.
One mount is much newer, the older one somebody cross drilled (why, who knows) so the mounting is really messed up.
It appears to be made of die cast Zinc so first thought of welding was out the door.
I picked up some machinable epoxy, and made repairs, going to give it a couple weeks to fully cure then try to machine it flat and see if it can be salvaged!

Re: Side mirror gasket material
Always something.
Got the two mirror posts together and one is longer than the other.
The one I am not repairing is P/N C1UB 17743-A which has a couple of refences.
The one I am repairing has P/N C4UB 17743-A.
I found an old eBay posting that states:
This sale is for a passenger side mirror with the number C4UB-17743 on the arm. This is the painted version
Somebody said the posts were the same, now I'm not so sure!

Re: Side mirror gasket material
My understanding there were a few different posts: 61-63 short arm, bolt-thru head; 64 long arm bolt-thru head; and 64-67 long arm with a screw in head, all with round bases. 2nd Gen vans had a similar long-arm, screw in head with a rectangular base.

Re: Side mirror gasket material
From what I've found out through experience is the spacer really doesn't do much at all. I went through a lot of hassle finding a pair and even when installed, the passenger mirror is still nearly half obstructed by the vent window post. I didn't even put one on the driver's side...didn't need it. The original round mirrors are 6" in diameter.
