A previous owner removed 3 of the seat brackets that attach to the wheel wells. I was able to get some new brackets from eBay a while back and I recently found some seats with the seat brackets. The one bracket that was still attached is the driver side rear bracket, so I know where that original location is. I welded in the front bracket on the driver side put in the seat and things are fine.

I then welded in the rear bracket for the passenger side putting it in the same location as the drivers side bracket (with in a 1/4 inch or so). I put the seat in the passenger side to line up the front bracket and the passenger seat is hitting the breather on the engine.

Doesn't the passenger seat brackets go in the same location on the wheel well as the driver side?

BTW... When I say I welded it in I mean I welded all the way around it as it will take hours of grinding to get that sucker out.

On my 69 A100 PU, the brackets for the passenger side are about 2" further away from center than the drivers side brackets.

Thanks for your feedback... I put them in the same location as the driver's side. I figured that something was not right with the location of the mounts, looks like I will be redoing them.

    Bill,

Just to verify, the passenger side is a couple of inches further away from the engine, closer to the door... correct?

Yea... with all my doing, redoing, and then redoing again I will be an expert by the time that I finely get this thing done right.

the next van you restore should go much quicker! I have ground off my share if welds because of 'minor' oversites. made a sheet metal panel with three bends and an oval opening perfect in every way, except it was reversed!

Yes, by my measurements, the passenger brackets are exactly two inches further outboard than the drivers side. Also, tack them in there, put seat in. Then if OK, we'd up solid!
