Well it took a while but I finally picked me up an econoline, a 63 van, not sure if I posted the pic right lol but I love it, it’s a little rough around the edges but it’s mine and that’s all I care about, it’s a diamond in the rough to me. It’s got the 144 in it and I can’t wait to enjoy cruising it everywhere. Vintage vans for life.

Re: Finally got one 63 van
Wanted to see the entire van. Just choose the 640 pixel setting when you bring in the pic and it won't get cut off.
Congrats, nice mirrors on there too!
I just noticed you're from Ocala...a former member here lives in Ocala. Goes by Joe Van and owns a real nice early GMC called Red Ryder. He's very involved in vanning in that area.

If the mirror glass is cracked, just replace it. Any glass shop can do it for you if you don't want to tackle it yourself.

Re: Finally got one 63 van
Nice Van and Welcome to the site! Those are great mirrors and I've been after a set of those myself. As far as I have seen, they usually came body color in most cases. I've not seen any mirror arms NOS sold chrome since i've been looking.
Having said that, I think someone put those on your van later. I don't think that style (rectangle mirror on long posts with round bases were available until 65, maybe late 64. I did some research when finding original mirrors for my 63 van a while back and found only the round mirrors or the west coast style (I think there are called) were available in 63.
I painted mine body color but might go chrome one day but only if I chrome the bumpers as well.
Looking forward to seeing what you do to your van!
Btw, Pretty cool having pop out windows in the sides and back.

Re: Finally got one 63 van
I agree with the rest of these guys, those mirrors are sought after and sometimes you see them on feebay for $169.00 each. I would just have a glass shop repair the broken one and when and if you decide to paint the van, you can paint them to go with the color scheme you choose, or have them chromed...whatever the voices in your head decide! LOL

Yeah I love the windows the doors are in a little roiugh shape but I can work with them, and if I listen To the voices in my head I will go crazy lol I deff plan on putting it back original color that u can see on inside of doors, and I would like to lower it for now the other stuff can come later down the road if I decide to do anything else like a v8 swap
