I have an original jack that someone wants to buy and I want to make sure it works. Problem is that I don't know how to work it . Little help please.

Re: Jack question
I meant how does the jack itself operate?

Re: Jack question
If I remember correctly, you put the blade end of the lug wrench in the slot and lever it up and down which causes the jack to operate. I think you flip the little flat thingy on the jack over to go up or down

Re: Jack question
If it is the original for a Gen 2 at least, It does not rotate but is more of a ratchet

Re: Jack question
Ok, mine's like the one in the second picture. It works like a ratchet with the lug wrench. You swing the lug wrench side to side and the jack screws up or down. You control that with the little tab that says up or down. Thanks boys.

Jack
For what little it is worth - Donivan65 is showing what I believe is a 64-65 style jack.
According to the GM parts book; at 1-66 they replaced the jack with a different P/N - so I expect 1966 & up to 1970 would be the same style that Sam has...

Jack position
Hey Donivan
Does the '65 jack you show mount parallel to the rear axle or perpendicular like the mounting instruction shown above (different jack)?

Jack
Yes like that; what orientation is your jack storage? Let me expand on why I ask. On my 65, I find the bracket orientated as shown in the following photo. So I am interested if your jack is stored as the manual displays or possibly configure as the bracket on mine.
I am trying to see if I can deduce if that your style jack was ONLY stored as shown on the second manual extract (sideways). Therefore all the jacks such as Sam has are stored pointed to the rear.

Re: Jack question
I'm not sure if this helps or not but mine is a 1969 G-10 and it is in the same location and position as the first picture Donivan posted. bottom of jack facing front. The sticker that was still on there when I got it showed the same thing. Also it is the ratchet type as in the first pic.
