Re: My Engine picture. What is it?
Heavy, you'll have to go to the engine block on the side for specifics .Look for stamped numbers to the left rear of distributor. That'll be more helpfull breaking down the code. ( eg: PV,PC,BA)

Re: My Engine picture. What is it?
Get the block casting number off the distributor side of the block. Right by the big GM logo. Run the number and that'll tell you if it's a 194 or a 230/250 block, or maybe something else. If it's a 230/250 block check the stroke to see which it is.

Re: My Engine picture. What is it?
Looks like a 250. But the number on block above fuel pump will tell you for sure.

Re: My Engine picture. What is it?
Ok. I have the numbers off my block. The ones by the GM stamp are as follows:
3921968 (above the GM stamp)
37 (below the stamp)
Here are the images in case I'm not showing the correct numbers.
The first is a picture of the full area and the the next ones are close ups of each area from left to right.
So??? What is it? Anyone??

Re: My Engine picture. What is it?
That is the wonderful Air Injection Reactor Tubes put on as Smog controls starting in California in 1966,,,,,,the Smog pump pumps air into the exhaust through that pipe,,,,,,they usually just undo that pipe and screw plugs into the holes,,,,,,
The 250 is a Stroker engine,,,,,or at least the piston goes down 1/4" further than the 230,,,,,,so,,,,,unless you have the head off,,,,you can't tell and it doesnt really matter for anything,,,,,,,

Re: My Engine picture. What is it?
So, with that being said. Does the 230 and 250 use the same pistons? And would these spare new box of 230 piston rings work in my 250?
