Well that's where I'm at now. My buddy who is going to help me remove all the bondo this winter and do a royal redo on the body, has a great shop and a mig welder and he will fabricate the drag link if all it is is tie rod ends. Cut a bar, tap the ends and Bobs your uncle. So if that thing about tie rods is correct, whoever that was that said that, tell me which side tie rod end it is and I'll order 3 of one and 1 of the other to do this work. I think if I can schedule it, I'll end up doing this myself with my buddies help.

,,,,are you getting ready for Winter already????? Those ES 350 r and L are the correct tie rods for the center link,,,,,we will try and find you what tie rod ends will fit the taper in the pitman arm and the steering knuckle so you can build a drag link,,,,,I will check and see if the G10 or G20 tie rod ends will work when I get back home tomorrow unless some here knows if they will,,,,,,,,,,

ES409L is what you need! The sleeve is ES2004S. I'm looking at my receipt for the Power Steering parts set-up that M1D used for his PS/pitman arm set-up, that I just recently acquired for my fab work.

Here's a question. Where would I get a 'new' drag link for my 66 G?I have spoken to everyone, the last source being rare parts in California. Even they said they don't have it. They said they could build it for me if I gave them all the specs, but that sounds expensive. Doesn't any after market parts company make this thing?
Check this out: It aint cheap, but its a new drag link:

The ultimate engine plan still in flux
It's funny. I've been away from this forum for like a year or so, and in all that time, my engine plan has gone through radical changes, and at present it's actually back to where I was in this forum.
Goodwrench 350 v8 and tranny swap.
However, there is one thing I worry about.
One guy who put an engine in his old van told me if he could do it all over again, he might put a fuel injected engine in because he's not fond of the carburator and all the pumping to get it going. I have to say, I really do like the fact that my crappy saffari while looking like it's a month away from the scrap yard, still cranks up every time, including 40 below winter up here in Toronto.
So new question.
Does the goodwrench 350 have a carb and am I going to have to pump it like 14 times before it starts? Are there inexpensive mod's to this carb'd engine that will make it an easy start as predictable as the fuel injected Vortec saffari engine?
I suspect I may regret the alternative.

if you are stuck on the fuel injection issue then i suggest that is the route you take. you can go with gm injection or you can go aftermarket like holley, fast, edelbrock lotsa choices. but you can also slap a quadrajunk on her and not have any problems.
keep on vannin and keep it simple, its more fun that way.

My buddy has an old truck with a 350 he put in and he's selling it to me. He has apparntly put alot of money and work into it and says its a mild stock car engine now. I don't know anything about it yet.
