What sort of mpg would you expect from say an all-stock A108 with a 318/727?
I'll have to convert from your puny US gallons into our far superior UK ones Wink

Lets say 15 mpg average, depending on the state of tune, ratio of the rear, rear tire size, driving habits and force of wind you are driving into. That works out to around 4 miles per litre, at 117 pence per litre (price I saw listed online) that would work out 4.4225 pounds sterling for one of our puny gallons which as of today that is equal to $5.53 USD per US Puny Gallon. Suppose that is a good deal, I paid $1.76 per gallon yesterday when I filled up, which is 1.4 pounds sterling per gallon or 140 pence per gallon or 37.04 pence per litre.

Most of these van got 12 to 17 mpg, probably a few got less, some got more.

    Hope my math was close.

    Enjoy the ride!

very true......& then convert to lpg-then you have even more to smile about (slightly less mpg but at £0.50p a litre)

I was going to ask if anyone has gassed an A. Have you done it? I take it there's plenty of space for a tank?

Well your LPG is a better buy than LPG in USA, anything you lose in mpg is made up with extended periods between oil changes and extended life of the engine, but you are giving up the opportunity of belching a giant cloud of black sooty exhaust all over the front of the vehicle that pulls to close to the rear of your van at a traffic light.

Hi, I've been working this out on my van recently A108 Hightop 318/727 2 barrel carb, electronic ignition, viscous fan, 3.55 rear end, 225/70/15 tyres and just weighed at 2100kg (campered up so insulation etc). Short journeys on the Isle of Wight I'm getting 10 to the uk gallon but lovin every minute! Considering going 4 barrel which should gain a bit as long as I take it easy! I quite fancy doing an lpg conversion but I've run out of space for a tank because I've underslung the spare wheel, fitted a step and 2 water tanks.

    lol!

Hell my pro-street Belvedere gets 16mpg on a long trip! I'm kinda hoping to beat that with the van, it'll will be my daily driver so a gas conversion may be on the cards.

I could just make the kids sleep in a tent and put the tank on their bed👍🏻. I should really swap the rear gears for the 3.23 that's in my Dart but until I have time for that, I'll look out for a four barrel and intake. Dogsbody, your belve is like a slick aerodynamic blade compared to my van 😁
