Newbie Checking in! Empty Newbie Checking in!

Post by DueNorth Sat Oct 29, 2016 3:49 am

    Hi Everyone,

    Another (total) newbie checking in!

(New to the forum & to the 'A' van & to classic vans in general!)

I have been looking for a decent affordable A in the Uk for a couple of years & just bought a 1969 A108 & trying to sort out a few issues before hitting the road! (steering related)

I will no doubt be asking some stupid newbie questions-so apologies in advance

    Regards

    Mike

You've come to the right place for lots of helpful people and information! Welcome aboard and please post pics once you get a chance. We'd all love to see what you've got for a ride!

If you need help posting, just let us know. Once you've posted pictures a couple of times, it's easy but can be confusing when you first try. Wink

The interior looks nice and tidy. What are the materials on the wall and on the floor? The floor almost looks like some sort of rubberized mat...?

The walls are this stuff http://ebay.eu/2dRB1P4 same as was used  in most  VW camper conversions -wouldn't have been my choice-too modern!-may eventually look to change it or at least panel over it

and the floor is this http://ebay.eu/2frtGX6 which is very hardwearing & I do like it a lot

The roof is tongue & groove wood by the way- which is too nice (& crying out to be 'distressed'!)

Thanks for the information, Mike!!! When deciding on finishes, it's always nice to have options and find out what works for other members and what doesn't. Thanks a bunch!

    No probs-
planned interior job(s) for me are

different front seats-the replacement GM ones in there are too high & wide!

rear seating & some kind of additional rear storage

insulation & flooring in the cab (bare metal at the moment)

    building a centre console

-but they'll all have to wait until I've got the steering sorted !
